About Danse Royale Ballroom Studio
Veronica Rocco, of Caribbean descent, brought her exotic background to the US in 1963 when she arrived in New York City. She discovered her love for dancing while in Ballet class as a little girl. She went on to study dance in her school years such as modern dance, ballet, jazz, clogging, square dancing, Hip Hop, and gymnastics etc.. During her college years, when realizing the pleasure it brought her, she decided to help others enjoy the same by becoming degreed in Physical Education and Recreation at Queens College in New York. She continued to dance, coach, judge and compete as an all around gymnast and in other sports. After her college years Veronica enrolled in a Ballroom Dance Studio in 1977 and directed her studies toward competition immediately as an amateur with her teacher, in American smooth, American rhythm, and the New York Hustle. She specialized in Theatre Arts because of her strong acrobatic background. Veronica became an instructor that same year and trained most of her students to compete as well. Competing professional/amateur with her students was a norm and winning was expected. Veronica's amazing feel for the "beat", her talent and her skill and ease in expressing the music with her body are attributed to her Caribbean influence, early dance training and natural talents. Competing with several of her students and her former husband who also was an accomplished instructor for the ballroom studios in New York City, Houston Texas and Oklahoma City she went on to becoming National champion in 1979 in Miami Florida., and to winning $10,000 in 2 local Hustle competitions in Houston, Texas, never been done before! Achieving a national reputation in the Ballroom arena, Veronica continued teaching, performing and competing for other studios until 1994 when she went on to operate independently under the name of La Danse Royale Club. The studio name was changed to Danse Royale Ballroom and relocated to West Chester in October of 2002. Veronica's desire is to help as many students as possible to discover the passion within them, learn to express it outwardly on the dance floor while having fun and enjoying the process. Danse Royale Ballroom's contemporary tropical decor provides a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Honesty and integrity permeate throughout the studio so you can trust, relax and enjoy your time with us while learning to dance.
